I had a question via email asking if our boot camp was only a women's fitness class. He asked if there were "dudes" too?
My response is "yes". Both men and women take the boot camp classes, but most are women. If I have 30 total students in one class, 27 of those are probably women.
I mentioned to him that these classes are designed to burn fat.
Therefore, for men looking to build larger muscles this is probably not the best choice.
Having said that, this is still a great option for those men looking to shed a lot of fat, gain strength, and improve endurance.
The exercises, like we did today with the TRX, can be modified so that they are extremely challenging.
For potential clients who aren't sure if our boot camp is the right fit, feel free to call me and discuss your questions.
Sir Richard Branson hitting the TRX just like us in boot camp.
Yesterday I helped out my coach, Todd Durkin as he rallied about 250 fitness professionals at the L.A. convention center.
The IDEA conference is attended by close to 5,000 fitness pros from all over the world. I met people from Japan, Turkey, and Singapore.
I worked with an incredible team yesterday. Here are just a few of the guys.
Coach Jeff Dillman, Head of IPI Physical Conditioning at IMG
Dr. Chris Mohr, Sports Nutritionist for the Cincinnati Bengals and is also the Sports Nutritionist for Under Armour’s TNP Training Council.
Troy Fontana, Nominated for 2010 IDEA Personal Trainer of the Year
For about and hour and a half groups of attendees were put through the ringer at each station. I was at the ropes station. What a blast. The participants were sweating like crazy after their time with us.
I had some time to talk to Randy Hetrick, creator of the TRX, and also Fraser Quelch, the director of training and development for Fitness Anywhere.
I was trying to get any tips I could on spreading the fun for you guys in our boot camp sessions.

Hi boot campers,
Look what I just bought...a new training DVD. Kettlebells and TRX combined.
We've been doing combo's like this since boot camp began and I'm excited to see and learn some new routines.
We were the first boot camp in the Pasadena area to use the TRX suspension trainer, and it just gets better with time.
As I'm sure you've seen in class everyone from the novice and out of shape, up to the very strong can get a great workout from the TRX.
I'm excited. Aren't you?
In this short video head Strength and Conditioning Coach Bryan Doo of the Boston Celtic's demonstrates how he uses the TRX to increase scapular range of motion and keep his athletes injury free.
Check out the Scapula Squeeze...
We haven't done this one in boot camp yet...but I'm getting some great ideas that it may be coming soon.
Thanks to Dewey Nielson for sharing this MMA modified TRX "reactive pendulum" exercise.
You'll notice that GSP, Georges St. Pierre uses the ropes and the TRX like we do in boot camp. Of course he is a fighter and goes to the extreme, but we can still get a great, fat burning workout using the same "tools".
